I saw this Sakai steel wheel compaction roller parked in my neighborhood. It immediately brought back memories of seeing my first paving project when I was four years old with my mother in Ankara, Turkey (my father was stationed there by the US Air Force). We hurriedly crossed a fresh hot mix asphalt concrete base course while it was being compacted with a similar steel wheeled roller so we could get to the local grocery store. My first whiff of hot asphalt!
